Hello, hello, hello! I would love to tell you a bit “about me” and why I created this site.

Let me first off introduce myself to y’all (or yinz for my fellow Pittsburghians out there). My name is Alaina Thomas, and I am a 25-year-old woman that LOVES to travel. From family vacations when I was a toddler to study abroad semesters in undergrad to road trips across the United States to adventures all around the globe, I have maintained travel as a priority throughout my life. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of beauty within every place I visit – in nature, cultures, peoples, foods, cities, etc. 

You might be thinking to yourself…okay okay. She loves to travel. But what else? What is unique about this blog? After a lot of consideration, I specifically chose the name of: Beyond The Moments.

Traveling – experiencing new cultures, eating diverse foods, enjoying beautiful scenery – is made up of a million unforgettable moments. However, those moments generally don’t happen by chance. (Although, you never know when you might get lucky and stumble upon an adventure). Traveling takes time – researching, planning, booking, and then actually doing. Most people are on various forms of social media every day, seeing photos from around the world and hearing about other’s travels, then often craving those same experiences for themselves.

Well, I am here to help! I want to expose the reality behind travel – the beautiful photos and unforgettable moments – in terms of what it takes to experience it yourself. I have experienced travel successes as well as committed mistakes, and I hope to share what insights I can with you all as you plan your next adventure.
