It has an array of beautiful attractions, for example Geysir Hot Springs, Thingvellir National Park, and Gullfoss Falls. Additionally, it is in a convenient location due to the fact it is less than an hour from the capital city of Reykjavík. That being said, you will most likely need to book a night or two at hotels within the Golden Circle in Iceland.

I think it is fitting to start out by listing a few of the best all around Golden Circle hotels in Iceland. These hotels are not the cheapest nor the most expensive, but rather they are somewhere in the middle. Additionally, they all have private rooms as well as private bathrooms. As a bonus, they all include access to a hot tub.

Lambastadir Guesthouse

Lambastadir Guesthouse is located in the town of Selfoss, which is at the southern point of the Golden Circle. Selfoss is full of grocery stores, shops, and restaurants, so you are sure to have everything you need during your stay. Room prices can range anywhere from around $190 to $250 per night.

The Guesthouse includes all standard amenities, for example free parking and wifi as well as private rooms and bathrooms. Moreover, they have a shared kitchen area with a microwave as well as a coffee and tea setup. The best part about the Guesthouse, though, is the access to the hot tub and sauna. There is nothing better than lounging in a hot tub after a long day spent exploring the sights of Iceland.

One of the best all around hotels in the Golden Circle in Iceland is the Blue View Cabin. It is located in Reykholt, which is conveniently located in the middle of the Golden Circle. Room prices can range anywhere from around $170 to $250 per night.

Blue View Cabin offers complete privacy at an affordable price. You book the entire cabin, which includes a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and TV. Oh, and did I mention there is a hot tub on the terrace?

Moreover, if you click on the link you will notice this particular cabin has the number 7B attached to it. That is because there are a number of similar cabins you can book, starting all the way from 1A. Therefore, be sure to keep looking at Blue View Cabins even if 7B does not meet your needs or is sold out. There are 10+ cabins available, so I am sure there is at least one that will fit your needs.

Blue Hotel Fagrilundur

Another great all around hotel in the Golden Circle is the Blue Hotel Fagrilundur. The hotel is located in the town of Reykholt, which is in about the middle of the Golden Circle. It is thus in a convenient location as you can reach all of the major attractions, for example the Silfra Fissure in Thingvellir National Park, within a one hour drive. Room prices can range anywhere from around $150 to $250 per night.

Standard amenities at the hotel include free parking, free wifi, TV, kitchenette, private rooms and bathrooms, and free toiletries. Additionally, the hotel includes a buffet breakfast and a hot tub. There are a few different room options available, so you can choose the one best for you.

2) Best Budget Hotels – Golden Circle, Iceland

If you are anything like me, then you are looking for a few ways to save money on your trip. Iceland is known to be an expensive country, but do not fear. The Golden Circle in Iceland has a variety of budget-friendly hotel options. You can thus still enjoy your travels without breaking the bank.

Skyggnir Bed and Breakfast

Skyggnir Bed and Breakfast is located in the town of Flúðir on the eastern portion of the Golden Circle. For reference, the Secret Lagoon is in Flúðir. I might be a bit biased, but I think this is the best option out of all of the budget hotels in the Golden Circle in Iceland. We stayed here on the first night of our road trip around the country, and we only have positive things to say.

Room prices can range anywhere from around $65 to $130 per night. Moreover, Skyggnir offers free wifi, free parking, complimentary breakfast, private rooms, a shared kitchen, and shared bathrooms. The hosts made our stay here even better, for they had a guidebook with all kinds of attractions and activities in the area. We asked about their favorite activity, and they led us to the tarn in Flúðir.

South Central Guesthouse

The South Central Guesthouse is located in the town of Selfoss at the southern point of the Golden Circle. Room prices can range anywhere from around $85 to $130 per night.

South Central Guesthouse is a good budget hotel due to the fact it offers some of the lowest accommodation prices yet still maintains wonderful reviews and basic amenities. For example, the Guesthouse offers free parking, free wifi, private rooms, a shared kitchen, and shared bathrooms.

Húsid Guesthouse

The Húsid Guesthouse is located in the middle of the Golden Circle. It is thus in an incredibly convenient location, for you can reach just about any attraction within the Golden Circle, including Kerid Crater, in an hour or less.

Room prices can range anywhere from around $65 to $100 per night. Additionally, the Guesthouse offers free wifi, free parking, private rooms, shared kitchen, shared bathrooms, and complimentary coffee and tea. Oh, and there is even a shared hot tub outside.

3) Best Luxury Hotels – Golden Circle, Iceland

Maybe your travel budget allows you to splurge on a hotel or two during your trip. If that is the case, then I recommend one or more of the hotels listed below. They belong in the “luxury” category due to the fact they all have private rooms and bathrooms, include all standard amenities, AND include additional amenities not usually offered by normal hotels.

For example, you can pamper yourself in a geothermal spa, hit the green on a golf course, and break a sweat at a fitness center.

360 Hotel and Thermal Baths

The 360 Hotel and Thermal Baths is located in the town of Selfoss at the southern point of the Golden Circle. Selfoss has a variety of restaurants, shops, and grocery stores available. You can thus find everything you need here during your stay. Room prices for the 360 Hotel can range anywhere from around $600 to $1,200 per night.

You might wonder what makes the 360 Hotel and Thermal Baths a luxury hotel. Well, it has a little bit of everything plus a geothermal pool, sauna, and lounge area. Standard amenities include a desk, TV, private bathroom, and free toiletries. Additionally, the hotel offers a buffet breakfast and has a restaurant that can cater to dietary restrictions.

Hotel South Coast – Golden Circle Hotels in Iceland

The Hotel South Coast is also located in Selfoss at the southern point of the Golden Circle. Rooms prices can range anywhere from around $215 to $500 per night.

Hotel South Coast includes all standard amenities, such as a TV, desk, private bathroom, free toiletries, and more. Additionally, it includes some nicer amenities such as a restaurant, bar, fitness center, sauna, and spa. Moreover, the staff at the front desk are happy to assist with arranging tours to nearby attractions.

Hotel Örk

Last on the list of the best luxury hotels in the Golden Circle in Iceland is Hotel Örk. It is located in Hveragerði, which is technically just to the west of the Golden Circle. Room prices can range anywhere from around $300 to $800 per night.

Hotel Örk is one of the best luxury hotels due to its array of amenities. All rooms include a refrigerator, desk, TV, private bathroom, and more. The hotel includes additional amenities such as an outdoor pool, sauna, hot tub, game room, and free access to the nearby golf course. Furthermore, the hotel can assist with organizing excursions to the Hengill volcanic area and horseback riding tours.

4) Best Vacation Homes – Golden Circle, Iceland

If you are traveling with a group of friends or family, then a vacation home might be your best option for accommodation. Everyone can pitch in a bit of money to pay for the home together, and then you can all enjoy a bit of privacy while still lodging together.

Mosas Cottages

The Mosas Cottages are located in Flúðir, which is in the eastern portion of the Golden Circle. For reference, Flúðir is home to the Secret Lagoon and tarn. Prices for the Cottages can range anywhere from around $220 to $270.

There are a few different cottages available, so you can choose the cottage that is the best fit for your group size. For reference, they generally accommodate between four and six people. The amenities include free wifi, a TV, full kitchen, and full bathroom. Moreover, additional amenities include free parking, a barbecue area, a balcony, hot tub access, and garden views.

Iceland Inn Lodge

The Iceland Inn Lodge is a vacation home located in Selfoss, which is at the southern point of the Golden Circle. For reference, the town of Selfoss holds the greatest quantity of hotels within the Golden Circle in Iceland. The town also has a variety of shops, restaurants, and grocery stores.

Prices for the Iceland Inn Lodge can range anywhere from around $450 to $750 per night. However, the lodge can accommodate up to eight people. The price thus comes out to only $55 to $95 per person per night.

The lodge includes a variety of standard amenities, for example free parking, free wifi, TV, full kitchen, four bedrooms, and two bathrooms. What makes the lodge so great are the additional amenities. There is a hot tub as well as an outdoor fireplace.

Brún

Last up for the best vacation homes in the Golden Circle is Brún. It is located in Laugarás, which is in the middle of the Golden Circle. You can thus easily make your way to any of the nearby attractions from here.

Prices for Brún can range anywhere from around $500 to $1,000 per night. The pricing really depends upon the time of year and interest. While that might sound expensive, keep in mind that it can accommodate up to 12 people. The vacation home includes four bedrooms and two bathrooms. There are a myriad of options for hotels within the Golden Circle in Iceland. However, maybe you would like to book something a bit more unique? Well, then look no further. The options below are truly one of a kind. You can go glamping or even live out your Rapunzel fantasies as you stay within a tower.

Golden Circle Domes

One of the best ways to experience the beauty and wonder of Iceland is to go camping…or should I say glamping. The Golden Circle Domes in Selfoss offers just the glamping experience you are looking for. For reference, the town of Selfoss is located at the southern tip of the Golden Circle.

Prices for the Domes can range anywhere from around $580 to $900 depending on the season and availability. Up to four people can fit inside a dome, for they have two queen beds. Additionally, standard amenities include free parking, free wifi, a small kitchen, and fireplace. The Golden Circle Domes also include a few nicer amenities, such as a concierge, restaurant, garden, and more.

Nevertheless, the highlight of the Domes is that part of the tent is see-through, which means you can look into the beautiful Iceland night sky. You might even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights if you are lucky.

Klettar Tower – Golden Circle Hotels in Iceland

The Klettar Tower is located in Flúðir, Iceland. For reference, the town of Flúðir is located just south of Gullfoss waterfall, and it is home to the Secret Lagoon.

Room prices for the Klettar Tower can range anywhere from around $250 to $300 per night. Additionally, a room within the tower can accommodate up to two people. Standard amenities include free parking, free wifi, private bathrooms, free toiletries, and a shared lounge area. However, the best part about this accommodation is the building itself – for it is literally a tower. Moreover, there is an observation deck at the top.

Ásahraun Guesthouse

Last on the list of the most unique hotels in the Golden Circle in Iceland is the Ásahraun Guesthouse. It is located in the town of Selfoss, which is in the southern region of the Golden Circle.

While it is called a “guesthouse”, it is essentially a grouping of cute, tiny cabins. Cabin pricing can range anywhere from around $140 to $160 per night. Additionally, each cabin has two twin beds and can accommodate up to two people. Standard amenities include free parking, free wifi, a TV, private toilet plus sink, shared showers, private kitchenette, and full shared kitchen.
